For the Fun of It presented by Candace Kaptain, DAR Correspondent docent in-training
July 25 at 1:00 p.m.
Working as a correspondent docent in-training, Candace Kaptain, is a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution as of August 2022. Candace loves history and historic preservation aspects of her NSDAR volunteering due to her experience as a child visiting local museum’s with her family. During the Covid shutdown, Candace began researching her family history on ancestry and stumbled upon her patriot ancestor who is the famous William Dawes- the who rode the night of April 19, 1775 to alert the “British are coming!”. She is married to her “battle buddy for life”- Patrick whom she meet while they were serving in the Army during OIF 2009. Together they have a daughter Rose who recently travelled to Japan and loves beating Candace in all tennis matches. They all live with the fur children (aka dogs) Sol and Luna who add so much love and joy to their family. Candace is so proud to bring the stories of history to the present and create a meaningful connection between time.
In this presentation, Candace will talk about American childhood from the 18th through the early 20th century examined through toys in the New Hampshire children’s attic. Reservations are requested, please call the library.
